Born in 1944, holds a BSc(1967) from LSE  and an MSc(1975) from QMC in economics. Between 1968 and 1995 was employed at the Planning Bureau as an Economist Planner and then as Director. Between 1995 and 2004 held the post of Director General of Ministries, serving consecutively at the Planning Bureau and the Ministries of Agriculture, Health and Communications and Works. Retired from the civil service in 2004 and since then has been working as a private sector consultant such as the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry and served on boards of directors of public Companies such as Universal Bank (2004-2007), Universal Life (2005-2007), Lordos United Plastics Ltd (2004-2012), Bank of Cyprus (Jun. 2012 to March 2013) and Strovolos Cooperative Bank (May 2014 to November 2014). He is currently member of the Boards of Salamis Tours Public ltd (2010 to date), the Cyprus University (Jun 2011to date), and the Rita and Costas Severis Foundation (March 2011 to date). He served on advisory committees for inter-communal negotiations for the solution of the Cyprus problem. He is a member of the Bicommunal Famagusta Initiative and other civil society bicommunal activities.
